Deployment Options
The Inventory Engine can operate agent-less or agent based dependent on the local requirements.
When deployed in an agent-less mode, a service is started on the device being audited but the actual Inventory Engine runs from share on the Server. Information is gather and compressed for transfer to the server.
When deployed in agent mode, the inventory engine is loaded onto the device to be audited, either on a permanent or temporary basis. Agents are commonly loaded onto systems that need to have continuous auditing to detect changes immediately they happen.
