Registry scans can be used to gather information from any part of the registry. Areas to be retrieved can be defined but by default the following areas are included:-
If the Asset ID, badge number or other information is stored in the registry this can be retrieved.
File scans can include any file type, defined in the inventory scan configuration, but defaults to Executable (EXE) and Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files on the system's fixed drives. This information is used to enhance and increase the level of information found in the registry of the software installed. The file scan retrieves details such as Name, Size, Product Name and Version, file name and version. This information can be extensive and has many uses, typically to validate that the correct software is installed or that no unauthorised software is installed.
