The LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) interface allows end user information, held in an LDAP compliant directory system to be viewed within RMS. This is particularly useful when the end user data is volatile, as it reduces the need to maintain the information in RMS.
On call logging, a generic identifier is used for the end user, perhaps to identify the department of location of the user and the other details of the user, such as name, email and telephone contact details are extracted from the directory and stored in the call.
Search capabilities are provided into the directory, allowing searching by name, email, telephone number and up to 3 additional site defined attributes.
