Device Audits Across the WEB
RMS Aware can audit devices across the WEB via a standard Internet Explorer (IE) Browser interface. Typical user targets are:
- Home Workers who use corporate equipment and software
- ‘Road Warriors' – sales staff and support engineers who may be away from their base for many weeks. This can include those working overseas.
- Small offices and project teams working in small offices or on customer sites
The WEB auditing service can be run in three ways:
- Voluntary mode- where the users are requested to log into a specified URL. This request could be based on an automatic email sent via a scheduled process, e.g. every month or could be a specific request to a new user or a user who has raised an incident or request. The automated process would be responsible for monitoring the responses and send an alert (e.g. raise a call on the Service Desk) for defaulters.
- In-Voluntary mode – where the user is detected on login to the corporate WEB site and an automatic check made against the Device Unique asset ID to establish whether an audit is required.
- Invisible Mode – where a remote user is connected daily using corporate applications to perform their job function. These users could be grouped within the Audit Scheduler and subject to a regular audit as if they were locally connected.
The URL specified points towards the RMS Aware Server that picks up the user and performs standard discovery and audit functions, albeit across the Internet.
